James Reisinger Obituary

James Russell Reisinger, 91 of Loysville, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 17, 2024.  Known to most as “Russ”, he was born at home on March 18, 1932 to the late Arthur L. and Susan (Shearer) Reisinger of Ickesburg.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Faye R. (Sweger) Reisinger; two children:  Peggy L. (Christopher) Trahan and Dennis J. Reisinger, both of Loysville; two grandchildren:  Cortney (Art) Lannan and Justin Pontius; seven great grandchildren:  Addie, Lane, Gabe, Hannah, Josie, Finn and Sam; and his brother, Jake Reisinger of Clearwater, FL.  In addition to his parents, Russ is preceded in death by eight siblings:  John Reisinger, Juniata Parson, Esther Morrow, Elsie Cook, Nellie Dum, Harvey Reisinger, Jerry Reisinger, and an infant sister Susan.

Russ graduated from Green Park Union, Class of 1951.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  Upon returning to civilian life, he worked as the Head of Data Services for the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, from which he retired in 1982.  Russ earned the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from Ships Parts Control Center while working for the Naval Supply Depot.  He was an active member and deacon of New Hope United Church of Christ in Landisburg.  He was also a member of Landisburg Lions Club, Blain Sportsman’s Club, Odd Fellows Lodge, Elliottsburg Rod & Gun Club, Tyrone Township Supervisors, Loysville Rod & Gun Club, and Madison Grange #2064.  In his rare free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing card games.

Funeral services for Russ are Friday, February 23, 2024 in the calming chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc.  The viewing will be held from 9 to 11 AM.  The funeral service will begin at 11 AM and will be officiated by Pastor Joshua Craley.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Restland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to New Hope United Church of Christ, 108 S. Carlisle Street, Landisburg, PA  17040.
