Charles Miller Obituary

Charles R. Miller, 87 of New Bloomfield, went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.  Born at home on February 11, 1937 to the late Kermit Sheridan Miller and Rosalie Frances (Doyle) Miller of East Waterford, Bob is survived by his five children:  Robert L. Miller, Richard A. Miller (Donna), Barry W. Miller, Sr. and Kimberly J. Knaub (Brian) -- all of New Bloomfield, and Glenn C. Miller, Sr. of Blain; nine grandchildren:  Keith A. Miller (Bobbi Jo) of Shermans Dale, Chad A. Miller of New Bloomfield, Terri L. Sheaffer (Scott) of Gardners, Stacey L. Starner (Tony) of Gardners, Barry W. Miller, Jr (Stacey) of Carlisle, Chelsey N. Miller of Enola, Jamie A. Engle (Tim) of Millerstown, Jessa J. Knaub of New Bloomfield, and Glenn C. Miller, Jr. of Blain; 17 great grandchildren; three and a half great great grandchildren (one expected in August 2024); and three sisters:  Nancy Reeder of Port Royal, Mary Ann Miller of Thompsontown, and Cindy S. Waters (Curt) of Mifflintown.  In addition to Bob’s parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Ann (Trego) Miller, who died in 2022; a grandson, Jeremy C. Miller, who died tragically in 2020; and four of his siblings:  Ed Miller, Tom Miller, Janice, and Sandy.

Bob graduated from Juniata Joint High School and was a member at the United Methodist Church of New Bloomfield.  He was a career truck driver.  He drove on Three Mile Island in the 1970s during its construction (as a member of Teamsters Local #776), and then he drove logging trucks for J. Nevin White and Tuscarora Hardwoods, from which he retired in December 1998.  In his retirement, he also drove for Millers Auto Parts in New Bloomfield.

Bob enjoyed building model trucks and then discovered his passion for woodworking.  Each of the five children proudly talk about the project that Bob built for them to cherish and remember him by.  Bob also enjoyed NASCAR racing.

Bob’s family is currently planning a memorial service in the future, but those plans have not been announced at this time.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bob’s name to East Waterford Cemetery, 36 Fry Road, East Waterford, PA  17021.
